|7000 Employees Collaborating, Sharing Data and Improving Frontline Services|
As with all local authorities Bristol City Council has recently faced the challenge of reducing its annual operating budget by £70 million whilst improving front line services to a population of over 440,000, making it the South West's largest city.
By implementing a unified document management and collaboration platform the Council has already enabled the delivery of efficiency improvements in a variety of Council services whilst enabling instant collaboration, improved remote access and data sharing for 7000 employees. Collaboration and data sharing with external partners has also been made easier.
Gavin Beckett, Chief Enterprise Architect for the council commented… “the additional bonus of an open source open standards platform means we can use it right across the board without having to spend large sums on licences — the money saved is being spent on front line services rather than software”.
