£10m additional funding for tackling child sexual exploitation

In his speech to the #We Protect Children Online Global Summit in London recently, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he would commit an additional £10 million next year to create further specialist teams in the NCA tackling child sexual exploitation (CSE).

Welcoming the announcement, Johnny Gwynne, Director of the NCA's CEOP Command, said:

"This funding will ramp up our work to target the most serious online CSE offenders and the high volume image sharing market.

"It will enable the NCA to deliver additional specialist investigative resources to target offenders, strengthen victim identification, and create additional intelligence and child protection advisor capabilities.

"Child abuse image offenders are breaking the law and they can expect us to come after them.

"We are determined to bring as many of them to justice as possible and this new funding will help us to do that."
