5th Cryogenic Cluster Day

What’s the Big Event on September 19th? No, it’s not the Scottish Referendum (that’s the day before). It’s CCD5 : The 5th Cryogenic Cluster Day. Free to attend, it is a day of seminar, trade show, posters and lab visits, showcasing cryogenics as the wonderful enabling technology it is. CCD 5 is taking place at the heart of the strongest cryogenic community - Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, in the heart of the strongest cryogenic community there is.

With registration starting at 9.30, the first talks are at 10 am - with John Weisend as this year’s opening speaker - John is Chairman of the Cryogenic Society of America (currently celebrating its 50th anniversary) and Senior Scientist at the European Spallation Source in Sweden. Here is John, sporting a Wallace tartan tie. Amongst the other talks, the use of cryogenics will be explored in laser and vacuum applications.
