890 projects across England celebrate £7.8 million Lottery funding

Yesterday 890 projects across England are sharing in £7,780,882 million from the Big Lottery Fund. Each of these projects represents a vibrant community using Lottery funding to make a big difference to their local area.

Please see below a few project highlights and a list of the awards being made in each region across England.

86 projects in the East of England are sharing a total of £699,313

Home-Start Great Yarmouth & District in Norfolk has received £9,946 to extend the reach of their existing work to support parents of children under five through a volunteer home visiting service. This will enable parents in rural areas to develop positive parenting skills, access support and reduce stress.

Sailship CIC in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, has received £9,888 to deliver work and life skills workshops and training to young people aged 19-25 with learning difficulties or disabilities. This will enable beneficiaries to gain practical real-world work experience and skills training in order to reduce isolation, improve confidence and help them to access further training or employment.

72 projects in the East Midlands are sharing a total of £632,983

In Boston, the Drugs in Lincs project has received £9,794 to train volunteers to support people who are experiencing the negative effects of substance misuse. This will improve the capacity in which the organisation meets the needs of its service users.

Nottinghamshire Clubs for Young People in Nottingham has received £9,987 to provide a weekly club for young adults with disabilities, engaging individuals in workshops to learn new skills and participate in creative activities. This will help reduce social isolation and support young people with the transition to adulthood to be able to live independently.

116 projects in London are sharing a total of £1,047,869

Into the Light Counselling and Support for Survivors CIC in Hammersmith and Fulham has received £10,000. The group will use the funding to deliver a series of counselling workshops and group therapeutic sessions for people who experienced sexual abuse as a child. This will engage beneficiaries in activities their emotional health and overall wellbeing.

Four Corners Limited in Lambeth has received £10,000 to create a documentary about legal highs which will be produced by ex-offenders for the benefit of the local community. This will support beneficiaries in gaining an accreditation in film making, helping improve their self esteem and confidence. The project will also highlight the dangers of legal highs, educating the general public.

65 projects in the North East are sharing a total of £585,571

Hartlepool Men’s Shed has received £8,536 to equip and open a 'Men’s Shed', where older men can meet, engage in useful practical pursuits such as metalwork, furniture restoration and bicycle maintenance in order to stay active and address issues of social isolation.

Autism Northumberland in Cramlington has received £9,947 to furnish and equip a centre for autistic children and their parents. This will enable the organisation to provide a familiar environment for children with autism which will become a training centre which will in turn help them gain confidence and enhance their social skills and other essential life skills.

147 projects in the North West are sharing a total of £1,319,067

Millbrow Beekeepers Association in Oldham has received £9,811 to run an outreach programme for the community focusing on educating people about bees. This will help to combat isolation, encourage involvement in volunteering and increase understanding of the environment for the community.

Salute Limited in Burnley has received £9,060 to purchase additional IT equipment and recruit additional volunteers to support Service personnel returning to civilian life and unemployed adults to access employment opportunities. This will improve the life chances of participants by providing access to practical and emotional support to help them gain employment.

89 projects in the South East are sharing a total of £750,369

Age UK Andover & District has received £8,000 to run learning activity and activity workshops for older people in the local community focusing on developing learning, life and practical skills. This will reduce isolation in older people in the local area and offer opportunities in areas such as education and health and fitness.

The City of Brighton Gay Men's Chorus has received £9,905 to run a festival of LGBT choirs from across the UK and Ireland with workshops, performances and a celebration of LGBT choirs and organisations. This will enable the group to bring together national LGBT groups to network and build social and support networks as well as celebrate their achievements and promote a message of equality, tolerance and understanding within the wider community.

93 projects in the South West are sharing a total of £802,136

Soundart Radio Ltd in Totnes, Devon is receiving £8,992 to deliver workshops and create user-led radio programmes that will focus upon the health of marginalised, vulnerable and excluded young people. It will encourage those taking part to become aware of the importance of good health and to adopt positive lifestyle choices.

Special Yoga Works CIC in Stroud is receiving £9,790 for a project to deliver a yoga programme for children and adults who are living with autism or learning difficulties. The scheme will support and develop social interaction skills and encourage family interaction and will also provide parents and carers with an opportunity to develop a better understanding of disability and enable them to learn coping mechanisms.

147 projects in the West Midlands are sharing a total of £1,319,067

C&T in Worcester has received £9,850 to deliver bespoke open space technology events that will reduce homelessness and raise awareness of drug use within the local area. This will enhance community cohesion while raising awareness.

Inspire2Succeed Limited in West Bromwich has received £10,000 to expand on their successful pilot project to deliver a series of workshops aimed at engaging with homeless people and people with addictions who are not in education, employment or training. This will improve the skills and future prospects of the participants through mentoring, support and confidence building activities.

95 projects in Yorkshire and the Humber are sharing a total of £856,596

Time to Listen Ltd in Hull is receiving £10,000 to offer counselling services for local children and young people who suffer from mental health issues due to abuse, neglect, family violence and bullying.

West Bowling Community Advice And Training Centre in Bradford is receiving £8,803 to deliver IT sessions for over 50s in the local area. This will provide a social activity for the beneficiaries, and enable them to improve their IT skills and access online learning courses, and ensure older people can remain independent.
