Air pollution guidance welcome - but government action needed too - IPPR

Laurie Laybourn-Langton, IPPR research fellow on energy, transport and climate, responded to today’s announcement from NICE on dealing with air pollution

"We welcome the new draft guidance on air pollution from NICE. Many of these measures could help local authorities to reduce dangerous levels of air pollution.

“However, air pollution is too big a problem for one council alone, so government action is needed, including a national diesel scrappage scheme and a network of clean air zones that give local authorities the full powers they need to reduce the number of polluting vehicles."
