Anne Longfield responds to Head of Ofsted's comments on police and child protection

Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England said:

“All agencies with a role to play in child protection must work together effectively, both at a strategic level and on the frontline, to ensure that children in need of protection are properly supported.

“Inspections have consistently identified poor performance in police forces and local authorities in regard to child protection.  It is imperative that improvements are made across multi-agency child protection partnerships. Both local authorities and police forces must step up to meet the challenges identified through inspection.”
