Applications now open for new Random Acts Network Centres to support new 16-24 year old talent

In April 2014, the Arts Council England announced a new phase of our partnership with Channel 4 with plans to re-launch the Random Acts strand with a more prominent television slot, enhanced online presence, increased funding and a more ambitious remit.

Arts Council England is now looking for arts organisations to apply to form and lead brand new Random Acts Network Centres, and create partnerships with other cultural, educational and creative media organisations. These centres will help to develop young talent, aged 16-24, and provide entry points for the arts and creative industries.

Each partnership will form a ‘network’ within each of the five Arts Council Areas which will deliver a package of activity including education, training and production support to collectively facilitate the creation of around 120 high quality short films per year (approximately 24 films per network per year) designed for distribution on Channel 4 platforms. Films produced by the network centres will be played on the Random Acts strand on television and online. Channel 4 will continue to commission Random Acts directly from more established talent.

Arts Council England plans to invest up to £3 million to fund five new Random Acts Network Centres over a 3 year period 2015-18 to nurture new 16-24 year old talent. Up to £600k of National Lottery funding is available to each Network Centre (and its chosen partners) for work which should be undertaken between February 2015 and March 2018.
