Appointments to the Order of St Michael and St George: July 2014

The Rt Hon Alan Duncan MP and the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP recognised for public service. 

The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Knights Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George be conferred upon the Rt Hon Alan Duncan MP and the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP in recognition of their public service to the country.

Knights Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George

The Order of St Michael and St George is awarded to men and women of high office who render extraordinary or important non-military service in a foreign country or for important or loyal service in relation to foreign and commonwealth affairs.

Recipients can adopt the title “Sir”.

Rt Hon Alan Duncan MP

Alan Duncan was appointed Minister of State for International Development in May 2010. He left government in the recent reshuffle.

He has been the Conservative MP for Rutland and Melton since 1992.

Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP

Hugh Robertson was appointed as Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in October 2013. He left government in the recent reshuffle.

Previously he was Minister for Sport and the Olympics, and was the Minister with day to day responsibility for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

He is the Conservative MP for Faversham and Mid Kent
