Apps for Good
techUK is delighted to support the work of Apps for Good, an open-source technology education movement that partners with educators in schools and learning centres to deliver a course to young people 10-18 years of age. Apps for Good provide the course content, training and connections to Expert volunteers, and then let teachers do what they are best at – inspire and guide young people.
Schools can help Apps for Good create a future generation of entrepreneurs, by delivering the free course and joining the Apps for Good community of over 600 Education Partners. If you know a school that would be interested in joining as Apps for Good Education Partners. Share this flyer with someone at the school or email education@appsforgood.org for more information.
Throughout the course, educators connect with the community of Expert volunteers – technology professionals and entrepreneurs who help bring the real world to the classroom for the students. Experts mentor the student teams in one-hour sessions via videoconference or in person. They help the students to progress or pivot their ideas and provide inspiration and motivation. Experts also give teachers a hand in tackling the more challenging areas of the course and making computing education more relevant to industry.
Apps for Good are growing their community of female Experts, to mentor young people across the UK as they develop their very own apps. If you are a women in tech who wants to help inspire the next generation of
entrepreneurs and technology leaders, you can find out more and register as an Expert here or email experts@appsforgood.org.
