BT announce UHD Content Service

BT Sport has announced the launch of BT Sport Ultra HD. A subscription based sports channel offering 4K content to home viewers.

BT has announced that in August it will launch the first Ultra HD 4K channel in Europe, BT Sport Ultra HD, and will also introduce a new Youview BT TV Ultra HD set top box.

This subscription based service, available over IP, will be the first widely available 4K channel for UK based viewers and will allow the many homes with a 4K enabled TV to enjoy a higher definition picture.

A sports focussed channel, the Community Shield will be the first programme broadcast, with other live events shown to include selected games from the UEFA Champions League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Aviva Premiership Rugby.

techUK are working on behalf of industry to support the role out and consumer awareness of UHD broadcasting and the creation of a compelling consumer proposition.
