Back to Work Programme - Follow the Journey

We catch-up with the participants of the Back to Work Programme, an initiative to help women returners back into the sector after a period of leave, one month on.

One month after our inaugural Back to Work programme, we meet with the women on the course for a focus group and networking session.

The Back to Work programme has been developed specifically by everywoman and techUK for women who have previously had careers in the technology industry, have taken a break and are now keen to resume a career in the sector. Following the first session, 100% of delegates rated the value of the programme as excellent or good. Comments from the participants expressed they left the training sessions feeling empowered and confident to return to the tech sector. One participant stated, "this is a ground-breaking initiative and must be vigorously commended. It is difficult ot be all things to all people in 2 days, but this was a very high quality workshop."

One month later, we caught up with the women on the course, providing them with an opportunity to feedback and shape future iterations of the programme. The participants of the session commented that they still believed the session was extremely powerful and practical, covering the bases they need to progress, while also suggesting additonal elements to the programme. techUK and everywoman will work together to take the feedback on board for the future iterations of the programme.

The focus group was followed by a networking session, where the participants of the programme met with recruiters and talent acquisition managers from our sponsoring members. The conversation was lively, and many great connections were made from it. All of the participants on the course have now set up or revitalised their LinkedIn profiles. Additionally, 8 women on the course are in the interview process with a number of tech companies following the advice from the training course and connections made from the programme. We will continue to assist them on their journey to return back to the tech sector.
