Big Lottery £3.9m to help strengthen Scottish communities

The Big Lottery Fund Scotland last Friday announced the latest 26 grants made under its five year £250 million funding scheme, designed to support people and communities to overcome challenging circumstances.

Here are some examples of what has been funded across the country:

  • Perth and Kinross ADHD receives £150,000 to develop their services for local families across the region. They will be able to recruit new staff and be able to deliver a wider range of services to meet growing demand.
  • Volunteering Hebrides, will be able to recruit and train up to 140 volunteer befrienders matching them with isolated people in island communities, thanks to an award of £149,958. 
  • Based in Edinburgh, Sleep Scotland, will set up a dedicated support system for parents and carer of children with sleep difficulties after an award of £349,566.

Maureen McGinn, Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, said: “Today we are awarding over £3.9m million to 26 inspiring organisations providing great support to people across Scotland facing challenging circumstances. These projects will reach people at a time when they need it the most, giving them the confidence, advice and skills to look towards a more positive future.“
