British Royal Air Force are in Malaysia, ready to take part in Exercise Bersama Lima 16 which runs from 4-21 October 2016.

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 October 2016 - British Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon Aircraft flown by 1(Fighter) Squadron from RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, landed at Royal Malaysian Air Force Butterworth, ready to take part in Exercise Bersama Lima 16 which runs from 4-21 October 2016.

Exercise Bersama Lima 16, hosted this year by Singapore, is the annual Five Powers Defence Arrangement (FPDA) Exercise which involves the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

The Exercise provides an opportunity for the five countries to improve integration and interoperability, whilst showing collective commitment to the defence relationship.

Colonel Stephen Hall, Defence Adviser at the British High Commission Malaysia, said:

“The FPDA remains an important part of our commitment to peace and security in the region, so we are delighted to see Typhoon return to Malaysia for Bersama Lima 16.”

Wing Commander Mike Sutton, Commanding Officer 1(Fighter) Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth, said:

“We are really looking forward to Exercise Bersama Lima and we are really grateful to Malaysia for hosting us. This exercise provides us with a fantastic opportunity to train and improve our integration and effectiveness with all the participating countries.”
