British Embassy hosts UK Skills Expo to develop talent in UAE

The second UK Skills Expo will be held at the British Embassy Dubai. Bringing UK players in the training sector to showcase their expertise.

After the tremendous success of the first event in 2013, the British Embassy, Dubai, supported by Manchester Business School will host the 2nd UK Skills Expo on 7th December 2014 bringing together UK players in the training sector in one place to showcase their expertise. These will include UK training organisations (both UAE and UK based), awarding bodies, institutions and universities offering executive education, who wish to explore the UAE market and form partnerships. The number of exhibitors has increased from 18 last year to 42 in 2014.

Held at the British Embassy, the event aims to provide a platform for those responsible for learning and development across public and private sector companies in the UAE to meet UK training partners.

The UK and UAE enjoy close links in the education and training sectors. There are many UAE based UK training related organisations who work closely and successfully with UAE entities. We wish to further these relationships to support the UAE National Agenda leading to UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE’s development in line with Expo 2020 which is expected to create 220,000 jobs.

The UK has the expertise to provide a wide range of industry and accredited training programmes that will deliver the necessary skills to help develop a diversified and flexible knowledge based economy powered by skilled Emiratis and harness the full potential of human capital.

Her Majesty’s Consul General, Edward Hobart said:

Education and training have historically been a UK area of strength, which is why we wanted to bring it overseas to the UAE. We want to be a part in its growth and development, especially now that Dubai will host the Expo 2020.

Randa Bessiso, Director – Middle East, Manchester Business School, said:

We hope to make it an annual event because we want the government and private institutes in the UAE to have access to the best vocational training available. The UK Skills Expo will achieve this by providing the needed platform for them to meet.

Sunita Mirchandani, UAE Lead Advisor for Education and Training at the British Embassy said:

UK training expertise is well known all over the world. With a larger contingent of UK exhibitors at the UK Skills Expo this year, we hope to further the strong links that already exist with UAE based organisations and to develop new relationships.

This is an invitation only event open to Heads of Training or those responsible for training, learning and development.
