CBI: "Firms will welcome the funding announced for a new Midlands Engine Strategy"

The CBI has responded to the announcement of the Midlands Engine Strategy.

Richard Butler, CBI West Midlands Director and Rick Blackmore, CBI East Midlands Director, said:

"Firms will welcome the funding announced for a new Midlands Engine Strategy. Unlocking the growth potential of the wider region in this way will address some of its productivity challenges like education and skills, digital and transport connectivity. 

"With the majority of people who will be working in 2030 already in the workforce now, the creation of a Midlands Skills Challenge programme is particularly encouraging and will help to train the local labour force in the face of fast-changing technology."
