CBI: Scotland's fiscal landscape means tough Budget decisions

Hugh Aitken, CBI Scotland Director, has responded to the latest Fraser of Allander publication: Scotland’s Budget, 2016

“The latest analysis of Scotland’s fiscal landscape brings tough decisions sharply into focus.

“Dwindling North Sea oil revenues, coupled with renewed uncertainty following the vote to leave the European Union, mean that the Scottish Government needs to set out a vision for its economy that shows it’s open for business and investment.

“The UK and Scottish Governments must work closely together ahead of the UK-EU negotiations, to ensure businesses get the best deal possible.

“Implementing a budget that will allow the successful delivery of the Programme for Government, while ensuring sustainable public finances, will be difficult.

“Business stands ready to work alongside the Government as it faces these challenges.”
