Richard Laughton, Chair of Sharing Economy UK, recently said:

“Detail from the Chancellor today on funding for innovation, new technologies and digital infrastructure should help companies in the Sharing Economy to thrive.

“However, some of the tax changes announced are likely to present challenges for the sector’s start-ups and small businesses and hit the self-employed.  Tax shouldn’t be the primary driver for a choice of business model and we understand the need to find the right balance for employees and the self-employed.  What’s crucial now is that we do provide breathing space for entrepreneurship.”
