CMA merger team looks for new recruits

The CMA is on the lookout for talented individuals to join its merger team by recruiting for Principal Case Officer and Case Officer roles.

Large mergers are among the most complex, challenging and high profile work that the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) undertakes, with recent and current cases involving major sectors and companies, such as telecoms – with the BT/EE merger – and betting and gaming – with Ladbrokes/Coral.

As part of this campaign, the CMA is holding its first ever merger recruitment open evening on 18 February 2016 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This will offer potential employees a greater insight into the CMA’s work and an opportunity to meet with people who are already performing these roles.

More detailed job descriptions are available on the mergers recruitment page along with the chance to register for the open evening.

Sheldon Mills, Senior Director, Mergers said:

This is a great opportunity to work in a fascinating and important role. Those recruited will be given significant responsibility as they learn how different markets operate across the economy and liaise with leading companies and their advisers as well as other organisations. It offers the chance to do work that matters for the lives of customers whilst working in a collegiate and professional environment.

These are challenging roles with a steep learning curve but those employed will enjoy close support from the rest of the team, and benefit from expert senior input and excellent training. In addition the importance and variety of the work we do provides valuable skills and experience that will open up future career opportunities.
