CQC’s first round of adult social care and GP practice inspections completed

We've completed our comprehensive programme of inspecting all adult social care services and GP practices in England that were registered before 1 October 2014.

In total, including inspections which have been carried out in response to risk, we've carried out over 30,000 inspections across adult social care services and over 8,000 inspections within GP practices.

Our specialised, expert-led and intelligence-driven regulatory model was first introduced in 2014 and leads to ratings of Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement and Inadequate.

Everyone using services – patients, people, their families and carers – deserve to experience safe, high-quality and compassionate care. As the regulator, this is what we will continue to focus on by setting clear expectations, encouraging improvement and holding providers to account.

We are working on ensuring that all of our completed inspections are published in a timely way as well as undertaking further analysis of our findings to date for reporting on later in the year.

Further information about what our inspections have allowed us to find out within adult social care and GP practice so far is available for reading in our latest State of Care report.
