Can you help us identify these men?

NCA investigators are asking the public for help to identify two men they want to speak to in connection with the seizure of 108 kilos of cocaine.

We want to speak to these two men in connection with massive cocaine seizure

The appeal follows the jailing of two Dutch men in December who provided a specialist drug retrieval service for organised crime groups.

Henri van Doesburg, aged 68, from Aalsmeer, and Arnold van Milt, aged 49, from Amsterdam, planned to use a high-speed underwater scooter to recover cocaine hidden in the rudder area of the Colombian cargo ship Cape Maria anchored near to Hunterston in the Firth of Clyde.

A multi-agency operation led to their arrests and the cocaine was seized.

Investigators believe that two English men Van Doesburg met at a café in Amsterdam on 8 May 2014 could have information about the seizure. Dutch officers heard references to “diving” and “got 120”. They recovered sheets of notepaper showing calculations and telephone numbers.

David Norris, NCA Branch Commander, said: “We don’t know for sure who those drugs were destined for but what we do know is the day before they were arrested, Van Doesburg had met with two men in Amsterdam who we believe are from Merseyside. They were talking about diving and jotting down sums on pieces of paper.

“There is a chance that had the cocaine been retrieved from the ship it would have been smuggled down to Merseyside and distributed on the streets. I'd urge these two men to come forward. I'm also keen to hear from members of the public who might recognise them.”

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of these two men is asked to contact the National Crime Agency on 0370 496 7622 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
