Celebrating dance of the African Diaspora
One Dance UK is bringing the fourth edition of its biennial conference celebrating Dance of the African Diaspora back this November.
The Re:generations 4 – Diasporic Dance: Legacies of Imagination conference will take place from Thursday 3 until Saturday 5 November 2016 at mac Birmingham.
It will an opportunity to hear from international speakers, including Dr Anita Gonzalez from the USA, Peter Badejo OBE from Nigeria and Dr Hilary Carty from the UK.
The three-day event has been developed with Birmingham’s ACE Dance and Music, one of the Arts Council’s National Portfolio organisations with a reputation as an international leader in the field of contemporary African and Caribbean dance.
The Re:generations conference gives British dance an international profile.
The line-up of presentations, workshops, masterclasses and debates on offer at the conference will give people the chance to examine the heritage, legacy, history and geography of dance of the African Diaspora.
The programme will also feature three public performances of work, including ACE Dance and Music’s new production TEN.
