Change of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Liberia

Mr David Belgrove OBE has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Liberia.

Mr David Belgrove OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Liberia in succession to Mr Fergus Cochrane-Dyet, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Belgrove will take up his appointment during April 2015.

Mr Belgrove joined the FCO in 1982 and has served in the Czech Republic, Kuwait, India, Canada, Afghanistan and Liberia. Most recently he has been Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General at the British Embassy in Khartoum. He was awarded an OBE in 2010 for his work in Afghanistan.

On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Liberia, Mr Belgrove said:

I am delighted to be returning to Liberia, this time as the British Ambassador. The people and Government of Liberia face many challenges. I look forward to working with them and international partners to help them and their neighbours recover from the current crises and fulfil their potential for a peaceful and prosperous future.
