Cheshire Constabulary officer faces common assault charge
A Cheshire Constabulary officer has been summonsed to face a charge of common assault by beating (contrary to s39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988) following an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation.
PC Richard Jordan, 34, who is based at Blacon police station, faces the charge in relation to an allegation that he used excessive force when arresting a 28-year-old man during an incident in Northwich on 26 April 2015.
The IPCC has independently investigated the incident and provided a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service. The CPS gave authority for the officer to be summonsed.
PC Jordan will make his first appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on 6 November 2015.
