Commission responds to Vince Cable’s initiative to increase Black and ethnic minority representation on company boards

The Equality Human Rights Commission has responded to Vince Cable’s initiative to increase Black and ethnic minority representation on company boards.

A Commission spokesperson said:

“Diverse boards which are able to draw on as wide a range of talents and experiences as possible are good for individual companies and good for the economy as a whole, so we welcome this initiative.

“The Equality and Human Rights Commission has produced guidance on gender diversity on boards and is currently preparing follow up guidance that will cover race and other characteristics to help companies and others understand better how they can take action to draw talent from as wide a pool as possible.”
