Commissioners take centre stage

The Five Year Forward View and its ambitions for delivering integrated and new models of care are the focus of the Commissioning Show 2015.

The two day event, as part of Health+Care at Excel in London that started yesterday, features a list of distinguished speakers, including Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham.

The show gives commissioners and providers the opportunity to seek out new ideas and solutions for improving local health and care systems.

Innovations, solutions and case studies feature throughout, giving commissioners the chance to adopt and adapt and make a difference in terms of improving quality and outcomes for patients, reducing costs and delivering better value.

Among the speakers from NHS England yesterday were Ian Dodge, National Director for Commissioning Strategy; Dr Robert Varnam, Head of General Practice Development; Tim Kelsey, National Director for Patients and Information; Dr David Geddes, Head of Primary Care Commissioning; Dr Martin McShane, Director for Long Term Conditions and Dr Geraldine Strathdee, National Clinical Director for Mental Health.
