Consultation launched for proposals for PSI Directive

Today, on behalf of the UK Government, we are launching anew consultation exercise to gather opinions on proposals to implement the amended Re-use of Public Sector Information Directive. The consultation seeks views on the provisions in the amending Directive, for which EU member states have discretion in how they decide to implement within their own administrative, legal and policy contexts. This specifically applies to Article 4 (means of redress) and Article 6 (principles governing charging).

The detailed impact assessment, which explores the costs and benefits of the options that have been considered, is being published alongside the consultation document.

The consultation document will be of interest to public sector information holders and to re-users and potential re-users of public sector information. The consultation opens on 20 August 2014, and runs for seven weeks until 7 October. Any responses should be sent to standards@nationalarchives.gsi.gov.uk  The consultation has been posted on GOV.UK, and can also be found in the PSI Directive transposition pages of our website.
