Could you be an FSA Board member?

The FSA Board is recruiting up to four Board members who will be appointed by the Secretary of State for Health. The deadline for applications is Monday 14 September 2015.

The recruitment comes at an exciting time for the FSA. We have an ambitious strategy for 2015 to 2020 to fulfil our vision of food we can trust and to continue to put consumers first in everything we do. Regrettably, ‘food we can trust’ is not a done deal. There are about 1 million foodborne illnesses within the UK each year with around 8,000 hospitalisations. The non-executive Board is ultimately accountable for the delivery of this strategy.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate achievement in a Board-level leadership role. They should have a proven ability in strategic planning and evaluating risk, and evidence of having driven change and delivered improvements across a diverse, multi-faceted stakeholder population. Candidates should also have a genuine interest and understanding of the issues relating to food safety, standards and nutrition. Experience in one or more of the following would be helpful: the food industry, food standards, consumer engagement, communications and public affairs, local government, veterinary science, public health, third sector or enforcement.
