Cycling in aid of Help for Heroes
The Civil Nuclear Police Authority Chairman Sir Philip Trousdell and new recruits raise money for Help for Heroes.
The Civil Nuclear Police Authority Chairman Sir Philip Trosudell spent the first week of June cycling 335 miles in the annual Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride. Returning for its 7th year, the bike ride started in Brussels and ended in Paris, taking in the battlefields of the Somme en route.
When asked about the event, Sir Philip said:
It is about fundraising for Help for Heroes, but it is also about much more than that. It is about setting yourself a personal challenge and getting to know large numbers of people from every part of the UK who want to thank those who have had their lives changed for ever in the service of our nation.
In total, Sir Philip managed to raise £2500 for the charity, but he was not alone in his efforts. The Civil Nuclear Police Federation and the latest course of new recruits from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary also contributed to the sum.
In a show of solidarity, officers from CNC recruit course 42 cycled, rowed and ran the distance between all the CNC sites across the UK, equalling 1500 miles. There were 32 officers who shared the distance, and a cheque was presented to Sir Philip for £560 at course 42’s graduation ceremony.
