Director of Technology and Preservation David Thomas to retire
David Thomas, Director of Technology and Preservation and Chief Information Officer, is retiring from The National Archives next week after almost 40 years' service.
David joined the Public Records Office in September 1974 after completing a PhD in History and has dedicated his career to developing access to archives and information both in government and the archives sector.
As well as his day job, David has used The National Archives' records to explore a range of historical topics. His earliest research interest was the life of William Shakespeare and David featured in Bill Bryson's book Shakespeare: The World as a Stage.
Clem Brohier, Acting Chief Executive and Keeper, The National Archives, said: 'I'd like to thank David for the 40 years he has given to the development of archives here and in the wider sector. David's contributions have proved invaluable over the years.
'On behalf of everyone at The National Archives, I would like to wish David a happy and healthy retirement. I look forward to reading his future works.'
