Today and tomorrow, the second board meeting of the European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) will take place at the National Library of Latvia, which is the last home affairs event of the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council in Latvia. During the meeting the EUCPN flag will be handed over to the next presidency – Luxembourg.

The board meeting will be attended by high-level officials from EU Member States responsible for coordination and dissemination of information about crime prevention policies in their respective Member States.

During the meeting it is planned to continue discussions on the EUCPN multiannual strategy project for 2016-2020 and its stipulated goals.

The participants of the meeting will discuss issues related to organised crime and how to provide the support to the European authorities in combating organised crime.

Afterwards, a representative from the State Police of Latvia will introduce the other participants with Latvia's experience gained from an international project, which collects best practice of other countries in simplifying crime investigation. The project aims to find possible solutions on how to reduce the consumption of resources and time during the crime investigation process and how to shift the resources primarily into serious crime prevention and investigation. The participants also will be introduced with the project on children safeguarding implemented in Belgium.

During the first board meeting of the EUCPN on 3-4 March, the EUCPN experts exchanged their experience on secondary victimisation (re-traumatisation of a crime victim).
In total, there have been twenty home affairs events organised in Latvia within the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council.
