Explore Your Archive week 2014

Following the success of last year's campaign, Explore Your Archive is back for 2014. More than 200 archives and museums in the UK and Ireland are holding a range of events and exhibitions during the week of 10-16 November.

Stephen McGann, best known as Dr Turner in hit television series Call The Midwife, and former BBC war correspondent and broadcaster Kate Adie, are this year's ambassadors and have joined forces with us and the Archives and Records Associationto help launch the campaign.

A social media Thunderclap, allowing a single message to be mass-shared flash mob-style, will go live at 10.30am on Monday 10 November, reaching an audience of close to 500,000 people. Get involved on Twitter by using different hashtags for each day of the campaign.

Jeff James, Chief Executive and Keeper, said: 'Following the success of last year's launch campaign I am delighted to see so many more archives and museums joining us this year. There is so much good work going on in the archive sector and I call on the public to get involved and take a look. I'm sure you will surprised, inspired, engaged and entertained by what you find.'
