FCO Minister condemns terrorist attack in Erbil

Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood condemns terrorist attack in Erbil and offers continued UK support to the Iraqi people.

Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood said:

I am appalled by the news of the terrorist attack today in Erbil that killed at least four people and injured many more. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. This is a reminder of the threat of indiscriminate terrorism to all in Iraq.

The UK will continue to stand by the people of Iraq, the government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government in their fight against terrorism and protecting civilians from ISIL’s murderous campaign. The Royal Air Force participated in coalition strikes on targets in Northern Iraq again last night as part of our strategy to degrade ISIL in support of Iraqi ground forces.
