FCO Minister hosts Global Women Leaders Event

Senior Foreign Office Minister Baroness Warsi gathered together international women leaders from Muslim communities.

Yesterday’s event, held at Lancaster House London, brought together Muslim women leaders from business, civil society and governments around the world to talk about politics, business and the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI).

They discussed identifying and inspiring the next generation of leaders and ways to channel resources and ideas to accelerate progress towards full economic, social participation for all.

Senior Foreign Office Minister Baroness Warsi said:

I’m a firm believer that women make great business and political leaders. And most importantly, not just on women’s issues.

Today was about ensuring we identify and support the next generation of political or business leaders. The inspirational women who attended today’s event have achieved much in their home countries. It is our duty to use our experiences, identify the collective barriers we face and tear them down and create the opportunities for this next generation of leaders to follow.

We all have far more to do, but this is a first and important step in creating an innovative and internal network of global women leaders to take forward this important work.
