FCO spokesperson shortlisted for Asian Women of Achievement Award

Farah Dakhlallah, FCO Arabic Spokesperson, is among the final shortlist for the Asian Women of Achievement Awards.

The awards, now in their 16th year, recognise the accomplishments of British Asian women in business, entrepreneurship, athletics, the arts, the public sector, and social and humanitarian work.

Farah is the Arabic spokesperson of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office based in London, reaching out on behalf of government to millions of Arabic speakers worldwide. Alongside print, broadcast and online interviews, she manages relations with the Arab press corps in the UK, and supports ministers, ambassadors and policy teams in their media outreach and strategic communications work. She joined the FCO after five years at the United Nations and several years as a broadcast journalist.

Speaking about her nomination, Farah commented:

I am honoured to be considered for this award which celebrates the immense contribution that Asian women make to public life in the United Kingdom.

The Foreign Office is one such place, where women of diverse backgrounds are increasingly shaping how the UK interacts with the world.

We need more talented women to join the civil service, including in senior roles, because a fairer more balanced cadre can better serve British values and interests both at home and abroad.
