Foreign Secretary statement on Libya

Philip Hammond expresses disappointment that the Libyan House of Representatives failed to take a decision on the Libyan Political Agreement.

Philip Hammond said:

I am disappointed that the House of Representatives failed to take a decision on the Libya Political Agreement on 20 October. A political settlement remains the best way to create the environment in which the Government of National Accord can work with the international community to tackle the terrorist and extremist threat, regenerate the Libyan economy and bring peace and security to the Libyan people. This requirement remains urgent. It is important to continue the Libya political dialogue and support the efforts of the UNSRSG Bernardino Leon.
