Foreign Secretary statement on Syria sanctions

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson comments on additional EU sanctions to increase pressure on the Asad regime.

The Foreign Secretary said:

The UK is working tirelessly with our international partners to find a long term solution to the Syrian conflict. We pushed for this and fully support the imposition of these sanctions as another way to increase pressure on the Asad regime and its backers.

These additional 10 individuals sanctioned include military commanders responsible for abhorrent chemical weapons attacks against civilians and for planning military assaults in Aleppo. The sanctions will freeze their EU assets and stop them travelling to the EU.
