Fugitive suspected of murder arrested in Spain

A Glasgow man wanted in connection with the murder of Kevin Carroll in 2010 has been arrested in Spain.

William Paterson, aged 34, who featured in the Operation Captura fugitive campaign, was arrested by Spanish National Police earlier this week.

Paterson was apprehended on a European Arrest Warrant, and appeared at the Spanish National Court in Madrid. Extradition proceedings are now underway.

He is the 61st fugitive to be arrested out of 76 publicised through Operation Captura – the multi-agency initiative between Crimestoppers, the NCA and the Spanish authorities.
