Get on your bike for the London festival

The Capital's great festival of cycling, Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle, is taking to the streets again this August - and is likely to attract record numbers of participants.

This year the event will showcase different areas of the Capital with a new, northerly route taking in The Strand and Lincoln's Inn Fields.

The eight-mile circuit passes iconic landmarks including Buckingham Palace and St Paul's Cathedral and, for the first time, goes south of the river over Waterloo Bridge, offering stunning views of the Capital. There are also two miles of roads through the heart of the City of London.

Spectators can explore the six Festival Zones set up along the route, featuring a host of free entertainment including stunt cyclists, Penny Farthing polo and a pedal-powered juice bar. Riders can also try out a BMX bike and take the mountain bike course challenge.

More than 95,000 cyclists, of all ages and abilities, are expected to take part in the five separate events that make up Prudential RideLondon, which will be held on traffic-free roads across London and Surrey over the weekend of 1-2 August.
