Greenock cabinet hailed as biggest ever

Record numbers expected to attend public discussion.

Hundreds of people are set to come to Greenock Town Hall on Monday to question the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her top team.

About 400 local people have registered to pack the hall for a public discussion as the Scottish Cabinet visits the town.

During the day, Scottish Government Ministers will take part in a full day of events in the Inverclyde area.

The Greenock Cabinet is the latest in a series of meetings that have taken place in towns and cities across Scotland, including Cupar, Dumfries, Aberdeen, Alloa, Inverness, Ullapool, Oban and Coatbridge.

The First Minister said: “Travelling Cabinets make this the most accessible government ever, and we have attracted significant interest from the communities that have been visited.

“In terms of numbers attending the public discussion, Inverclyde has exceeded all the other Cabinets that have been held across Scotland.

“This is the chance for local people to give us their views on the matters that are important to them, be that a local or national issue. They can also have a face-to-face chat with a Minister following the public discussion.

“These travelling Cabinets are important in that they will help inform the policy decisions my government makes.”
