HMRC Grant Funding Programme for 2015 to 2016

HMRC agrees to fund 13 projects to provide support to customers who need extra help.

HMRC launched the most recent round of the Grant Funding Programme on 29 September 2014.

We announced that we had £2 million funding to allocate in 2015 to 2016 for voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations to provide advice and support to customers who need extra help understanding and complying with their tax obligations. Qualifying organisations were invited to put forward project proposals for two separate categories of funding.

Category one:

Provision of advice and support to complement HMRC’s new Needs Extra Support service. Specifically, to target our hardest to reach customers, or those:

  • whose relationship with HMRC has broken down
  • who need independent advice and support
  • who cannot or will not interact with HMRC for whatever reason

Category two:

Receipt of referrals from HMRC’s Needs Extra Support Service to assist customers who need independent advice and support with more complex tax issues.

We received 79 applications for funding totaling £14,518,000.

We have agreed to fund 13 projects from April 2015 to March 2016.

A list of the successful funded organisations and projects is available upon request by sending an email to Mailbox.stakeholder@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk.
