Transcript of Helen Grant's interview with The House magazine.

Transcript from the interview

Question: With the row going on now with the passports is that a good opportunity for you to remind people that if they are struggling to get passports they can avoid the hassle and just holiday in the UK?

Helen Grant

It’s about choice at the end of the day people should do what they want. I would have to say I grew up in Cumbria just on the edge of the Lake District and my constituency is the heart of the garden of England I’m probably biased but I think those two areas are two jewels in a very rich crown. There’s a lot to be said for the staycation I think people want to do what they like. I think we will have a great summer and a great summer of sport too, there’s a lot of opportunity to build your holiday around a spoilt for choice list, Tour de France, we’ve got the golf, we’ve got the Commonwealth Games, we’ve got the football on the TV, we will be spoilt for choice in terms of sport here and it’s a wonderful place to have a holiday.

Question: So if you don’t get your passport it’s not the end of the world?

Helen Grant

Well I’m sure you will do, I’m very confident, I have no doubt you will do. But if you don’t want to go away we have some fantastic holidays here.
