How #techUKPS2030 will support the government’s vision for a Smarter State

Join us on 10 May to hear from digital leaders across industry and government about the emerging tech that will shape our public services in 2030.

Last week, we announced techUK’s Public Services 2030 conference, which will take place on 10 May 2016.

#techUKPS2030 is unique in its focus on the emerging technologies that are set to transform the services that citizens receive from Government. The conference will explore the potential of tech in healthcare, frontline services, local government and cyber security. This deep-dive into tech is a crucial part of techUK’s wider work in supporting the UK public sector to adopt innovative technologies and to lay the foundations for great public services.

On the day, our PresidentJacqueline de Rojas, will kick things off by setting out techUK’s vision for public services in 2030. We will hear from industry leaders, on how disruptive tech will help the public sector better meet its users’ needs. Brian McBride, the Chairman of ASOS, will talk about how tech revolutionised the retail industry and what Government could learn from his sector.

Dr Yoge Patel, CEO of Blue Bear Research Systems will be exploring how emerging services could use Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs) for better assisting distressed citizens. Emily Gravestock from the UK Space Agency will look at the view from above, and how civil servants could improve their decision making and services through the use of satellites. From Government, we will hear from Stephen Foreshew-Cain, the head of the Government Digital Service, and Mayank Prakash, the Director General for Technology at the Department for Work & Pensions. This is only a flavour of the speakers that will be joining us on the day, and you can find a full list here.

The main audience for our conference will be civil servants from departments and agencies across Government. We believe it is critical for members of the public sector to experience the emerging disruptive technologies that will transform public services, particularly to deliver the Prime Minister’s vision for a ‘Smarter State’.

If you’re a civil servant, you can attend #techUKPS2030 for free – sign up here. There will also be limited spaces for industry. Over the next couple of weeks, we will continue to announce exciting speakers from across the tech sector and beyond – so do keep an eye on the website. We look forward to seeing you there!
