IEA - Public health industry squandering yet more taxpayers’ money

IEA reacts to call for new child health strategy

Commenting on the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health’s report calling on government to introduce a child health strategy, Chris Snowdon, Head of Lifestyle Economics at the Institute of Economic Affairs, said:

“Once again, taxpayers are being told to endure higher prices, more restrictions on their freedom and more of their money being squandered by the nanny state industry.”

“The public health budget this year is a colossal £3.4 billion. Far from reversing the tiny cuts to this cash-guzzling leviathan, the government should cut deeper and harder. If that means that professional busybodies on six figure salaries have to reduce the number of conferences they attend, then so be it.”
