IPCC investigating MPS response to emergency call

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating how the Metropolitan Police Service responded to a call expressing concerns for a woman who was subsequently found dead.

The body of Anita Kapoor, 34 from Hayes, London was found in a lay-by on the A413 at Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire on 23 June. Thames Valley Police is investigating Ms Kapoor’s death and a man has been charged with murder.

An emergency call had been made to the Metropolitan Police Service at around 5.30am expressing concerns about Ms Kapoor’s safety. The IPCC has decided to independently investigate how this call was dealt with and responded to.

IPCC Commissioner Cindy Butts said: “My sympathies go out to Ms Kapoor’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Our investigation will be focused on the Metropolitan Police response to the call.”

As criminal proceedings are now active the IPCC will not be commenting further.
