IPCC investigating Metropolitan Police Service contact with man in Feltham

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the circumstances surrounding a 48-year-old man sustaining serious injuries at a house in West London on Tuesday morning (13 May 2014).

According to initial police information, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) were at the house in Feltham when the man sustained injuries to his neck. He was taken to a central London hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

The IPCC’s independent investigation began following a referral from the MPS shortly before midday on Tuesday. IPCC investigators and an independent forensic scientist were sent to the scene in Feltham to gather evidence, and are continuing to carry out a number of inquiries.

IPCC Commissioner Mary Cunneen said: "Our investigation will examine police contact with the man, and will seek to determine how he sustained his injuries.

"Our family liaison managers have met with his family to explain our role, and will be keeping them updated on the progress of our investigation.

"As the IPCC investigation is at an early stage, we are unable to provide any additional information at this time.”
