IPCC investigating Norfolk Police actions prior to death of 19 year old

A 19 year old man who died following a road traffic collision in Norfolk in the early hours of Sunday 26 June was Preston Fulcher from North Walsham.

The IPCC is investigating the actions of Norfolk Police because Mr Fulcher was being pursued by a marked police car with its lights and sirens activated immediately prior to the collision near North Walsham.

Investigators attended the scene of the incident and also the post incident procedures where the officers involved provided their initial accounts of what happened. Radio communications and computer data from the car have been downloaded and will be analysed to help to establish the circumstances surrounding the pursuit.

IPCC associate commissioner Tom Milsom, who is overseeing the investigation, said:

"This is a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life and our thoughts are with all of those affected by Preston's death. The IPCC will thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding this collision.

"I have met with Preston's family to offer my condolences and explain our involvement."

The Fulcher family has requested the media respect its privacy at this time.
