IPCC publishes report from investigation into Kent PCC Ann Barnes

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has published the report from its investigation into an allegation that Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes may not have had the appropriate car insurance when involved in a road traffic collision in September 2014.

On the basis of the evidence collected during the investigation it was the IPCC’s opinion that Mrs Barnes may have committed the offence of driving without insurance when she was involved in the collision (for which she was not at fault)  on 16 September 2014. However  the  CPS  had decided in February 2015 that it would not be in the public interest to prosecute Mrs Barnes.

Under the obligations laid out in the Elected Local Policing Bodies (Complaints and Misconduct) Regulations 2011 the IPCC is now publishing the report from the investigation.

The report can be found here.
