Inflation fall shows economic need for wage rises, says TUC

Commenting on the latest inflation figures published yesterday (Tuesday), which show a larger than expected fall in inflation to one per cent – the lowest figure for over ten years – TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Seven years of falling real wages have damaged our economy and left the recovery looking increasingly fragile and unbalanced. Concerns about deflation are not going away.

“Today’s figures should put a decisive end to speculation about early interest rate rises – it’s sustained and proper wage rises that the economy desperately needs.”
