Joint statement on Libya
Joint Statement on Libya by the Ambassadors and Special Envoys of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Head of the EU Delegation to Libya.
They underlined concern for the suffering of the Libyan people as a result of the dire humanitarian situation, deteriorating economy, and the growing threat of terrorism from Daesh and other extremists. They stressed the urgent need for a united government to resolve the situation, and highlighted the comprehensive support the international community is ready to provide to a Government of National Accord. The Ambassadors and Special Envoys urged those who remain opposed to the agreement to act urgently and responsibly in the interests of the Libyan people, and to join the majority who want peace in unity under a stable and inclusive Government of National Accord.
The Ambassadors and Special Envoys stressed that the upcoming Rome conference will demonstrate the commitment of the international community to an urgent conclusion of the Libyan Political Agreement.
