Land Integrated Survivability Technology Exploitation Network

A network of experts in the field of land integrated survivability is being developed by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).

The Armour and Protection Science and Technology Centre (A&P STC), run by Dstl, has acted as the interface for armour and protection work between Dstl and industry and academia since 2008.

The A&P STC’s main focus has been armour, but it is now expanding its remit to include more technologies and techniques which could increase survivability in the Land domain. To reflect the change, the Centre will be known as the Land Integrated Survivability Technology Exploitation Network (LISTEN).

Bryn James, Dstl Senior Fellow within the Physical Protection Group says:

Armour is just one part of integrated survivability. Building on the success of the A&P STC in accessing UK capability in this field, we now wish to expand this group to include a number of other areas including signature management, active integrated protection systems, survivability analysis, and all other survivability techniques and technologies. LISTEN will support all military capability in the Land environment including dismounted and mounted troops, vehicles and force protection engineering.

We aim to increase the number of people within this network, bringing together experts from across disciplines, all working to provide the best for our Armed Forces.

A launch event for LISTEN is taking place on 23 July 2015 at the Honourable Artillery Company Museum, London. Suppliers wishing to join the network or attend the event should contact: listenenquiries@dstl.gov.uk.

Following the launch, LISTEN will host a series of meetings throughout the year, highlighting relevant opportunities and Centre for Defence Enterprise competitions, where funding will be available for novel, innovative work.
